What Type Of Blood Tests Will Be Done?

Blood samples are drawn quickly and privately in our office. The advantage to you is: no wait in a crowded commercial lab, and your results will not go to your insurance company or any other doctor (unless you choose to provide a copy yourself). The price for the required panel listed below is $118, which includes a draw fee for the independent technician, who is very skilled, even if your veins are hard to find. We do not fluff up or charge fees for useless "food allergy" or DNA testing or complex hormone tests designed to sell you supplements. You will not have to undress for an unnecessary EKG in our clinic.

If you have had blood tests performed within the last three months, you may not need new tests until you have lost the first 20 pounds. Privacy laws make faxing these types of records difficult, so simply ask your other doctor for a printed copy to bring with you to our office.

If you want to use your insurance and go to an outside lab, we can provide a doctor's order for the tests. The insurance rate you will be billed by the outside lab for the same tests may be 3 or 4 times higher - expect over $400 typically. Find out if you will have to pay the full amount or only a deductible before you go. Most patients appreciate the efficiency and atmosphere of having blood drawn in the privacy of our office.

Again, if you have had these tests within the last three months, further testing may be unnecessary. These tests include:

Men: PSA (prostate blood test) and testosterone level - $40

Women: FSH/LH (menopause hormone test) - $40

Dr. Dudney will review the results of your blood tests and provide a copy for your own records.
